Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - Lake Elsinore's Vince Belnome went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs and Cody Decker went 3-for-5 with two RBIs as the Storm defeated Lancaster 6-2 at Clear Channel Stadium Wednesday.

Lancaster grabbed an early lead when Brian Pellegrini belted a solo home run off Storm starter Juan Oramas in the bottom of the first.

Lake Elsinore immediately answered when Belnome blasted a solo home run off JetHawks starter Mike Modica in the top of the second.

The Storm seized the lead with a pair of runs off Modica in the top of the fourth. With two runners on, Belnome delivered a two-run single that gave the Storm a 3-1 advantage.

Meanwhile, Oramas (7-2) and the Lake Elsinore bullpen baffled Lancaster's hitters throughout the night. Oramas gave up three hits and one earned run with seven strikeouts and a walk in five innings pitched. Gary Poynter, Nick Vincent and Nick Schumacher combined to toss three innings of scoreless relief.

Trailing 6-1 in the bottom of the ninth, the JetHawks got a run off Brad Brach when Lee Cruz smacked a solo home run over the left field wall. But Brach recovered to retire the side and seal the victory for Lake Elsinore.

With the win, Lake Elsinore improved to 33-32 in the second half and 79-56 overall. The loss dropped the JetHawks to 30-35 in the second half and 53-82 overall.
