Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
Grand Rapids, Mich. â The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Tuesday signed goaltender Brent Belecki to a professional tryout. Substituting for Griffins backup Drew MacIntyre, who is day-to-day with an injury sustained during this morning's skate, Belecki will be in uniform tonight when Grand Rapids hosts the Rochester Americans in a 7 p.m. start at Van Andel Arena.
Belecki, 26, has an unblemished 3-0 record for the UHL's Muskegon Fury this season, showing a 2.00 goals against average and a 0.922 save percentage.
A seven-year pro, Belecki also has labored for five ECHL teams (1998-2000) and six CHL franchises (1999-2004), compiling a career record of 133-111-20 in 278 appearances.
During his junior career with WHL Portland, he led the Winter Hawks to the 1998 Memorial Cup championship, earning tournament MVP honors to go with the league Goaltender of the Year award that he garnered for his play during the 1997-98 season.
