Plekanec nets four goals on weekend including OT winner

The Hamilton Bulldogs collected three of a possible six points as they traveled to Philadelphia, Binghamton and back to Hamilton for another three-game weekend. Leading the way offensively for the Bulldogs was forward Tomas Plekanec. The native of Kladno, Czech Republic recorded four goals in three games, including the overtime game-winner against the visiting Edmonton Road Runners on Sunday night at Copps Coliseum. He also recorded two goals in a losing cause Friday night versus the Philadelphia Phantoms and the lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Binghamton Senators on Saturday.

Also contributing on the scoreboard for the Bulldogs were rookies Corey Locke and Andrei Kostitsyn. Locke and Kostitsyn each earned a goal and an assist in Sunday's win over Edmonton. Locke also recorded an assist in Friday's loss to Philadelphia, placing him in a fourth place tie for the AHL rookie scoring lead with five points in five games.

The Bulldogs have three games this upcoming weekend. On Friday night they will play host to the Philadelphia Phantoms. The team will then travel to Syracuse on Saturday to take on the Crunch before returning home to host the Manitoba Moose.

Sunday's win over Edmonton was the Bulldogs first victory in overtime this season ... the season series between Hamilton and Edmonton now stands at 2-0-1-0 in Hamilton's favour ... the Bulldogs 43 shots on Sunday moved them up to ninth in AHL shots with 167 ... Hamilton also has allowed the second most shots in the league, giving up 184 so far this season ... Bulldogs goaltenders Yann Danis and Dan Ellis have combined for the league's sixth best save percentage with a .925 mark ... Hamilton's games have been penalty-filled as the Bulldogs have had the third most power play opportunities with 39 and have been shorthanded the seventh most times with 34 ... Hamilton's 8 points so far this season is good enough for 9th overall in the AHL, 4th in the Western Conference and 2nd in the North Division ... Tomas Plekanec - his overtime game-winner on Sunday extended his goal-scoring streak to three games ... his two power play goals on Friday in Philadelphia puts him in a tie for most power play goals in a game this season ...

Dan Ellis - his 45 saves in Friday's game in Philadelphia was the second highest save total in a game this season ... his 22 saves in the first period of that game are a season high in the league for saves in a period

Raitis Ivanans - is currently in fourth place in AHL penalty minutes with 52 in only five games

Ron Hainsey - his four points so far have him tied for 7th in AHL scoring by defenceman ... his four assists are also tied for 4th most assists by a defenceman

Corey Locke - his goal and assist on Sunday brought his point total for the season up to five, which is good enough for a tie for 4th in rookie scoring ... Locke was named the first star for the second consecutive home game on Sunday

Yann Danis - after his two stellar performances on the weekend, Danis is 8th in the league in GAA at 1.73, and is tied for 7th in the league in save % at .939
