Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees scored five runs in the fifth to snap a 1-1 tie and then held on for a 6-4 win at New Orleans on Monday night.
Sherman Johnson started the rally with a one out and scored the go ahead run on a double into the left field corner by Eric Young, Jr. Shane Robinson followed with a double to left to bring home Young to make it 3-1. Kaleb Cowart walked after New Orleans catcher Carlos Paulino dropped his pop foul. One out later, Nolan Fontana launched a 1-1 pitch over the right field wall to make it 6-1.
New Orleans would chip away with a solo homer by Destin Hood, his second of the game, in the seventh and back-to-back homers by Steve Lombardozzi and Brandon Barnes to make it 6-4 before Justin Miller recorded the final four outs for his fourth save of the season. Salt Lake starter Troy Scribner (5-0) picked up the win, as he went six innings and allowed just one run on two hits with six strikeouts and one walk. Fontana led the Bees with two hits and three runs batted in, as Salt Lake opens the road trip with a victory and has now won seven of its last nine games.
