New Britain Bees News Release
(New Britain, CT) - The New Britain Bees (13-13) defeated the High Point Rockers (17-11) 10-3 at New Britain Stadium on Saturday night and have now taken the first two games of a three-game holiday weekend series in the Constitution State. The boys from the Hardware City have won four consecutive games overall, matching a season-high last set earlier this month from May 8th-11th.
New Britain starting pitcher Rainy Lara (3-1) earned his team-best third win of the season after allowing three runs on six hits (three home runs) over a season-best seven innings pitched, striking out five and hitting a batter. The two-time Liberty Division All-Star notched his first quality star in 2019. High Point starting pitcher Tyler Herron (0-2) was tagged with the loss, surrendering ten runs (nine earned runs) on nine hits in just three and one-third innings of work, walking and striking out two.
New Britain took a 4-0 lead in the home half of the second inning, highlighted by a leadoff solo home run to left field by Jonathan Galvez and a two-run triple to right centerfield produced by Bijan Rademacher. Leading 4-1, the Bees broke the game wide open in the bottom of the fourth frame, sending ten batters to the plate and scoring six runs (their largest run output in a single frame this campaign) on six hits in the process to open up a commanding 10-1 advantage with several different offensive contributions. Tyler Clark began the production with a two-run triple to the opposite-field in right center, plating Jared James and Rademacher after they both reached earlier in the rally with a pair of base knocks. Alexi Amarista followed Clark's at bat by driving home New Britain's backstop with an RBI single, and the outburst concluded with a Jason Rogers two-run double into the left field corner that allowed Ozzie Martinez and Alejandro De Aza to cross the plate. The Bees concluded the successful Saturday evening with 11 hits overall, marking the tenth time this year in which they have had ten or more hits in a single contest. James and Rademacher had two hits apiece en route to the victory.
The Bees conclude their series with the High Point Rockers at New Britain Stadium on Sunday, May 26th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 P.M. It will be a YMCA Family Fun Day. Prior to the game, fans will be invited onto the field for an autograph session with the Bees. After the game, kids can take the field and run the bases!
