New Britain Bees News Release

(York, Penn.) In a wild back-and-forth affair, the New Britain Bees held on to beat the York Revolution 11-8 in the second game of three at PeoplesBank Park.

PITCHERS OF RECORD- W: Grady Wood (1-1) | L: Tyrelle Harris (1-2)| SV: Craig Stem (4)

The wildness began in the middle innings of the ballgame. With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom half of the fourth, York put up three runs against New Britain's starter Josh Zeid, with the damage coming from a two-run single from catcher Isaias Tejada and sac fly from Andres Perez, who had also homered in the first inning. However, the Bees battled right back and scored three times in the fifth to knot the game up again thanks to James Skelton's two-run single and Greg Golson's RBI double.

After York regained the lead with a run in their half of the fifth, the Bees' offense again responded, this time with two runs in the sixth on an RBI single from Brandon Chaves and a passed ball which brought home Kevin Rivers. The Revolution, however, would score twice in the seventh to go back in front 7-6.

That is when the Bees erupted for their highest scoring inning of the season, plating five in the top of the eighth. The first two runs came off the bat of Chaves, who singled home Rivers and Jonathan Roof. With two on and two out, third baseman Jovan Rosa provided the exclamation point to the inning with a three-run home run. Despite picking up one more run in the bottom of the eighth, York would not get any closer as Craig Stem tossed a scoreless final inning-and-a-third to lock down the hard earned win.

The Bees' Kyle Simon and the Revolution's Jorge Martinez will attempt to restore order in the series finale as tomorrow's starting pitchers. First pitch from PeoplesBank Park is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
