
Bees Add Lefthanded Slugger Songco

(New Britain, Conn.) - The New Britain Bees today announced the acquisition of outfielder Angelo Songco.
"Angelo is a great acquisition for our club and is a proven Atlantic League slugger," says Bees General Manager Brad Smith. "He adds a power bat and some versatility to our lineup."
Angelo Songco heads to New Britain during his second season in the Atlantic League and 10th of professional baseball after being acquired in a trade with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Last year, the slugger made his Atlantic League debut with the Long Island Ducks, appearing in 129 games and posting a .263 batting average with 24 home runs, 81 RBI, and 66 runs scored.
The 29-year-old was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2009 MLB amateur draft. He spent six years in the Dodgers organization, reaching as high at the Double-A level with the Chattanooga Lookouts in 2014. Prior to coming to the Atlantic League, he would also spend three seasons with the St. Paul Saints of the American Association.
In 1,005 career minor league games, Songco owns a .272 batting average with 149 home runs, 219 doubles, 636 RBI, and 573 runs scored.
