June 23, 2018 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Tri-City ValleyCats News Release
The Tri-City ValleyCats defeated the Lowell Spinners on Saturday night by a final score of 8-2, behind the first multi-home run game of Seth Beer's professional career.
Beer reached base four times throughout the night with a career-high four runs batted in on a single, two separate two-run home runs and a hit-by-pitch.
Ramiro Rodriguez added a 3-for-3 day at the plate with a stolen base and two RBI.
Enmanuel Valdez remained hot by collecting his third straight multi-hit game with a 2-for-5 performance that included two doubles.
It was a four-run first inning that served as the keynote for Tri-City, beginning with Seth Beer's first home run of the night.
Beer brought Jeremy Pena around to score on each of his home runs to account for half of the ValleyCats' offensive output.
Carlos Machado and Gilberto Celestino each brought home runs with RBI-groundouts throughout the game.
The 'Cats' other two run-scoring hits came from Rodriguez, who roped RBI-singles into right field in the first and third innings.
On the pitching front, Nivaldo Rodriguez and Riley Cabral combined to pitch the first four innings for Tri-City.
Bryan Abreu then pitched three hitless innings to earn his second win of the year.
Austin Hansen closed out the game with two perfect innings.
Now with a record of 5-4, the ValleyCats are tied with the Vermont Lake Monsters for first place in the New York-Penn League's Stedler division.
The ValleyCats will travel to New York City on Sunday afternoon to begin a three-game set with the Staten Island Yankees.
First pitch at Richmond County Ballpark in Staten Island will take place at 4 p.m., as coverage begins on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano 15 minutes prior to the start of the game.
