NORWICH, Ct. - The Connecticut Tigers (2-7) failed to protect a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning as the Brooklyn Cyclones (7-2) batted around and scored five runs to complete a three-game sweep, 8-4, in their lone visit to Dodd Stadium this season.

Daniel Gonzalez (Loss, 0-1) blew the save and gave up his first earned runs of the season. With the bases loaded, Brooklyn left fielder Wagner Lagrange drove in two runs with a single to center that gave the Cyclones a 5-4 lead. Gonzalez proceeded to walk in another run and Ross Adolph added a two-out, two-run single to center field for an 8-4 Brooklyn advantage.

Connecticut took a 4-3 lead in the fifth when Cam Warner sent an RBI single to center. Hector Martinez hit the Tigers first home run at Dodd Stadium this season with a solo shot to left in the third inning. Martinez, the 21-year-old second baseman from the Dominican Republic, led the Tigers with two runs batted in on Saturday.

Sam McMillan picked up his first RBI with Connecticut on a first-inning single that allowed Isrrael De La Cruz to score his first of two runs in the game. De La Cruz reached base in all four trips to the plate as the Tigers set a new season-high with 12 hits in one game.

The Tigers lost their seventh game in a row and now sit one away from matching the franchise record for consecutive defeats set with eight straight losses from July 21-28, 2016.
