TEAM NEWS

The Beef will again be competing in the United Indoor Football League, which experienced some changes during the off-season. The Tennessee Valley Raptors moved to Rock River, and the Bloomington Extreme was welcomed as the league's first expansion team.

The UIF's new regional divisions are now:

West: Omaha, Sioux City, Sioux Falls

Central: Peoria, Rock River, Bloomington

East: Ft. Wayne, Ohio Valley, Lexington, Evansville

The Beef are pleased to announce the hiring of James Kerwin as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. Kerwin brings a long track record of success to the Beef. His extensive background in indoor football will be a great asset as the Beef make a run at a championship in 2006. "We are very excited about getting Coach Kerwin on board with us, " said Head Coach Robert Fuller. "James was probably the most sought after coach in the indoor game this off season and turned down several great head coaching job offers to become our defensive coordinator. His experience, along with his passion for the Omaha and Council Bluffs communities made this a great fit."

TICKET TALK

This month's featured seating level are the In Your Lap seats. These seats make up the front two rows along both sidelines. Not only do these season ticket holders receive great seats, merchandise discounts, schedule poster, t-shirts and other perks, but these are the only seats in the arena that get waitress service!!

Call Kim at 346-BEEF to hear more about all of the seating options or go online to http://www.beeffootball.com/tickets/.

BEEF IN THE COMMUNITY

This week the Beef helped spread holiday joy throughout Children's Hospital during Pacific Pal's annual ‘Sharing the Spirit' event. Along with several volunteers from Pacific Pals and Grubb & Ellis|Pacific Realty, we brought gifts and laughter to children and parents who may not have had them otherwise.

Head Coach and General Manager Robert Fuller was the guest speaker last week for the Airman Leadership graduating class of Bravo Company 06 at Offutt Air Force Base. "It was truly an honor to be asked to speak at such a prestigious event and to share my leadership philosophy with some of the military's finest," said Coach Fuller. "The graduates going through the program there are taught and trained with the same fundamental belief system that characterizes all great sports franchises. They emphasize characteristics like team work, accountability, communication, self discipline, along with creating a ‘team before self' environment that is crucial for any successful team."

CATTLE CALL

Thirty-seven athletes made their way through the snow, ice, and high winds for their shot at a place on the Beef roster. "Several athletes really caught our attention and we were happy with the group as a whole," said Head Coach Robert Fuller. The Beef will also be hosting two Invite Only tryouts in February. To be considered for these workouts, players must send biographies and game film to:

In memoriam

Omaha lost a leader, a friend and a great man when Harlan Noddle passed away last week. He and his son Jay have owned the Beef since 2002. He was widely known as a successful businessman who kept Omaha's best interests at heart. As a developer he helped to mold Omaha's landscape, but it is more likely that he will be remembered for his philanthropic work throughout our community. His passing will be felt by many for years to come.
