
Beef Signs McNear and Brown for 2012 Season

OMAHA, NE: Returning to Omaha, James McNear III and Cornelius ¬ËPig' Brown are hopeful for a championship season. Both players are key assets for the Omaha Beef. McNear, a 6'2" 170 pound quarterback out of Concordia University - St. Paul is looking for his 5th season with Omaha. Brown is a 5'10" 220 pound defensive back and played at the University of Missouri.
James McNear III is a Des Moines native. He started 45 games at Concordia University - St. Paul in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was the male student athlete of the year in 2006, along with many other collegiate honors. In 2011, McNear started 12 games where he completed 225 passes for 2,129 total yards and 37 touchdowns. He rushed for 502 yards and 14 touchdowns. McNear stated, "I look forward to the 2012 season. The part I enjoy about this game is that it is not all about the touchdowns, big collisions, or celebratory dances, but I enjoy the strategic analysis of the game and the execution needed to win. I look forward to the adversity we will face with a forever changing game, and the opportunity to continue to make plays." McNear ends with, "My sights are set on winning a championship."
Cornelius ¬ËPig' Brown is a Georgia native. He played for Missouri in 2006 and 2007 where he was named to the 2007 All-Big 12 Second Team, as well as Big 12 defensive player of the week on several occasions. He finished his collegiate career with 110 tackles (62 solo, 48 assists), 5 pass break ups and 3 interceptions. In 2011, during his 2nd season with the Beef, he played 14 games where he was able to successfully contribute both defensively and offensively. He had 153 all purpose yards for 3 touchdowns. Defensively, he had 83 tackles (56 solo, 27 assist), 2 sacks, 5 interceptions for 147 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brown is looking forward to the 2012 season, "with the veteran players we have re-signing, we are able to rally the rookies and bring a championship here to Omaha."
