Beef move to fourth in league standings, add players

Omaha, Nebraska - With a win over Black Hills this past weekend Omaha Beef Football is pleased to announce the team now holds the fourth position in UIF league standings. Should the Beef maintain or improve upon this standing they will be guaranteed a first round playoff game on Saturday, July 30, 2005.

As the team enters the final five weeks of the regular season three roster additions begin to emerge as potential standouts. Those players are Defensive Lineman Reggie Johnson, Wide Receiver & Running Back Allen Burrell and Defensive Back Harold Clewis.

While at Southeast Oklahoma State University, Johnson earned two first team All Lone-Star North Division conference selections. He was also awarded All Lone-Star North Division defensive lineman of the year.

Burrell was a two-sport standout at Division 1-AA North Dakota State University at Fargo. He was an All Great West selection as a Wide Receiver and Kick Returned and helped to lead the Bison to an eight and three record in their first season at the Division 1-AA level. The Aurora, Colorado native was a standout for the North Dakota State University track team. During his college career, Burrell was seven-time All American sprinter recording a time of :10.44 in the 100-meter dash and a North Central Conference outdoor 200-meter dash record of :20.69.

Clewis comes to the Beef from Iowa State University. He was a two-year starter for the Cyclones and played as a true freshman after a standout career at Elkins High School in Missouri, Texas. During his career at Iowa State University, Clewis helped lead the Cyclones to three bowl games.

Johnson and Clewis first saw action for the Beef this past weekend in the 51-37 victory over Black Hills and Burrell's first game with the Beef came in the 33-30 victory over Fort Wayne on Saturday, June 11.
