
Evansville Suffers Road Loss at Sioux City

The Sioux City Bandits pulled away in the second half of Saturday's game at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa and the BlueCats couldn't catch up as the Bandits went on to a 60-40 win over Evansville.
The BlueCats held a 13-7 lead after the first quarter and only trailed by 7 at the half but then the Bandits were able to extend their lead behind a superb offensive effort by running back Fred Jackson.
Jackson had his best rushing game of the season, running for 161 yards and 4 touchdowns on only 17 carries. He also became the first player in the UIF history to run for over 1,000 yards in a season.
Meanwhile, the BlueCats prolific rushing attack was held under control for most of the night with running backs Dale Jennings and Otis Shannon running for a combined 72 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Wide Receiver Gerald Clark had 5 receptions, which gave him a season high 78 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Otis Shannon had his second kickoff return for a touchdown this season when he ran one back for a 47 yards touchdown return in the 2nd quarter. For the game Shannon had 6 kickoff returns for 142 yards.
The defense was led by Clint Brown who totaled 11 tackles in his first start of the season. Connie Brown added 7 tackles to his league-leading total. Connie currently ranks first in the league with 77.5 tackles this season. Newcomer Jerry McCloud also added 7 in his first game with the team.
This loss puts the BlueCats record at 5-6 and extends the teams losing streak to 4 games. Evansville is still in second place in the UIF South Division. Sioux City improves to 10-2 and has won 4 in a row.

Evansville's next two games are both against the Tupelo FireAnts. First, this coming Friday, June 24th the BlueCats will play at Tupelo. Kickoff for Friday night's game is set for 7:30pm at the BancorpSouth Center. The Evansville BlueCats will then return home on Saturday, July 2nd, when they host the Tupelo FireAnts.
The July 2nd game against Tupelo is Evansville's final regular season home game for the 2005 season and will be "Fan Appreciation Night".
