Omaha Beef News Release
Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef of United Indoor Football will play their final road game of the regular season this Sunday in Sioux City. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:05 PM and the game can be heard on 1620 AM "The Zone" or www.1620thezone.com. The loser of this game will be in rough shape as they enter the final week of the season. Omaha can clinch a playoff spot with a victory and a Bloomington loss to Sioux Falls. The Beef and the Bandits have played two epic games so far this season with each team winning on the final possesion on the road.
Omaha comes into the game with a 6-7 record, which is in a tie for 4th best in the UIF. The Beef fell in a disappointing loss to Evansville last week in a game where the Beef scored their least amount of points in the season (17). The running game continues to move the ball for the Omaha as the Beef are averaging 82.9 rushing yards per game, which ranks 4th in the league. The Beef are averaging 126 rushing yards per game since Andy Majors has taken over at quarterback. Majors is 2-1 as a starter.
The Beef defense only allowed 120 yards of offense to Evansville in the loss last week. Linebacker Chris Eads currently ranks sixth in the league in tackles with 71 on the year. Leif Murphy stands at seventh in the UIF in sacks with 5.5. The Beef defense is allowing the third least points per game at 35.0, while Sioux City is only scoring 32.6 per game.
Sioux City (5-8) quarterbacks have thrown the second most interceptions in the league and could be without Hosea Harris for the rest of the season. Troy Travis played a solid 2nd half last week in replacement of Harris by throwing for 135 yards and two touchdowns vs. Sioux Falls. The Bandit defense has allowed only 35.3 points per game, which ranks 4th in the league and they have given up the least amount of yards, averaging only 174 yards allowed per game.
Beef Head Coach Robert Fuller says, "This is a huge game for both teams and it should be another classic battle between two long time rivals."
June 8th is the final regular season home game for the Beef as they battle the Fort Wayne Freedom at 7:05 PM. It's "Orange Out" Night at the Slaughterhouse and back by popular demand is the Salem Stepping Saints for a half time spectacle. Individual game tickets still remain for the game and can be obtained by calling the Omaha Beef Football office at 402-346-BEEF (2333).
