The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) will battle the Bloomington Extreme (Bloomington, Illinois) for their first time ever on Saturday, July 1 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Tennesse Titans defensive end and Larchwood, Iowa native, Kyle Vanden Bosch, will be on hand to flip the coin to start the game. Vanden Bosch is coming off his best season as a pro in which he played in his first ever Pro-Bowl last February after finishing fourth in the NFL in sacks with 12.5.

Sioux Falls improved to 13-0 with a win last week in Sioux City and the Storm can clinch home-field advantage throughout the UIF Playoffs with a victory over the Extreme. Quarterback, Terrance Bryant needs 2 touchdown passes to break Ryan Aulenbacher's single season record of 45. Bryant's 44 touchdown passes on the year currently ranks him third in the UIF. With two touchdowns last week, Casey Veenhof moved to a tie for seventh in the league in touchdowns scored. Veenhof and James Terry are tied for the team lead with 13 touchdowns.

The Storm defense made their presence felt in the first possesion of last weeks game in Sioux City as Shannon Poppinga intercepted a pass and took it 36-yards for the touchdown. The interception marked Poppinga's 30th in his career and tied him with Bobby Perkins for the most in Storm history. The "Thunder D" compiled three sacks last week to bring their league leading total to 31 on the season. Austin Flyger recorded 2.5 himself to bring his season total to 8. The Storm defense is allowing only 24.8 points per game, which will be a UIF record if the teams stays on that pace.

Quarterback Dusty Burk, who has missed time this season due to injury, paces the Extreme offense. Burk has only played in eight games this season and is averaging 159 yards passing per outing. Burk has thrown 25 touchdown passes and ran for six more this season. His favorite receiving target is Sam D'Alie, who is currently ninth in the UIF with 39 receptions on the year. The Extreme are scoring 37.4 points per game, which ranks seventh in the league.

Bloomington's defense has struggled at time this year. The Extreme are allowing the ninth most points in the league by giving up 42.1 points per game. Linebacker Lamar Baker is the only Extreme player in the top 25 in the league in tackles. Baker currently has 75.5 tackles which ranks seventh in the league. Newcomer Quince Holman leads the team in sacks with 4.5 despite only playing in six games. The Extreme rank ninth in the UIF in sacks with only 15.

Sioux Falls will be back at the Arena for the regular season finale next Saturday, July 8 for a 7:05pm kickoff. The Evansville Bluecats will visit "The Storm Shelter" and will look for a win as they are in the thick of the playoff hunt. It is Fan Appreciation Night, and the first 1,000 fans will receive Lightning Bolt Hats. The game is sponsored by Thoms Company Commercial/Investment Real Estate.
