
Bedard, Svozil & Suzdalev Named to CHL All-Star Teams

Regina, Sask. - The Canadian Hockey League announced the 20 players named to its 2022-23 CHL All-Star Teams which include three Regina Pats players; Connor Bedard, Stanislav Svozil and Alexander Suzdalev.
It marks the first time in more than a decade that the CHL has unveiled a CHL First All-Star team, CHL Second All-Star team, CHL Third All-Star team and CHL All-Rookie Team.
Players were last named to CHL's First All-Star team, Second All-Star team and All-Rookie Team at the conclusion of the 2009-10 season while Third All-Star team recipients last took place in 2002-03.
Connor Bedard - CHL First All-Star Team
Bedard, 17, is ranked the number one draft prospect heading into the 2023 NHL Draft, which will take place from June 28-29 in Nashville, Tennessee. This past season, he led the WHL in goals (71) and points (143), and was tied for the lead in assists (72). He also led the way in shots on goal (360), points per-game (2.51), goals per-game (1.24), and finished tied for first in game-winning-goals with 11. All this while playing in just 57 games.
Bedard led the Pats in plus/minus (+39), face-off win percentage (53.6) and power play points (45). The North Vancouver, B.C. product also tied for the longest point-streak in the WHL this season, going 35 straight contests with at least a point, surpassing his previous high of 21 set last season. During the 35-game streak he scored 44 goals and 46 assists for 90 points.
The 5-foot-10, 185 lb. forward tied Rob Brown (1985-86) for the highest points per-game by a 17-year-old in WHL history, as well as the third-most goals and points by any U18 player in league history.
In the post-season, Bedard elevated his game even more, recording 20 points (10G-20A) in seven games, helping the Pats reach game seven of the first-round against the Saskatoon Blades who finished the year with 101 points to Regina's 72 points.
Bedard has scored 134 career goals and 271 career points in 134 career WHL games with the Pats across three seasons with the club (2020-2023).
Stanislav Svozil - CHL Third All-Star Team
Svozil, 20, finished the regular season top-3 in the WHL amongst defencemen in numerous categories. He ranked first in power play assists (36), second in assists (67), second in points per-game (1.39), and third in points (78), all while playing in just 56 games.
The Blue Jackets 2021 third-round pick became the 164th Regina Pats player all-time to reach the NHL, making his debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 13 against the Pittsburgh Penguins where he picked up an assist on the clubs tying goal for his first career NHL point. He also played one game with their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, recording two assists in one contest.
The Prerov, Czechia product finished the year with 24 multi-point games, including four four-point efforts. Svozil's 78 points were the 10th-highest single season point total by a Pats defenceman in franchise history.
His 67 assists are tied for the fifth-highest all-time in team history and his 1.39 points-per-game rank 4th all-time in Pats history. Svozil joined Connor Hobbs (2016-17) as the only two Pats defencemen in the last 25 years to reach 70+ points.
In the playoffs, Svozil recorded 13 points (4G-9A) in seven games, finishing second amongst all skaters in first-round scoring.
Alexander Suzdalev - CHL All-Rookie Team
Suzdalev, 19, led all WHL rookies in goals (38), assists (48), points (86), power play goals (17), and power play assists (19), and was tied for first in points per-game (1.30). The Khabarovsk, RUS product recorded 29 multi-point efforts and seven multi-goal games this season. The 6-foot-3, 171 lb. forward was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the third-round of the 2021 NHL Draft before joining Regina in the fall.
The skilled winger was tied for 11th among all league skaters in scoring and was named the WHL Rookie of the Month for the months of December, February and April, the only player to earn the honour more than once in 2022-23. In the post-season, he added 10 points (7G-3A) in seven playoff games with Regina, which ranked third on the team.
