Portland Beavers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today announced the team will conduct five youth baseball camps at PGE Park this season.
The camps, presented by adidas and Franz Family Bakeries, are led by head camp instructor Tommy Sandt, a former Beavers coach and player, as well as a host of players from the 2007 team. Each of the five camps will feature professional instruction in hitting, pitching, catching and fielding in a relaxed and fun environment.
"It is an excellent opportunity for kids to learn from the pros and to get to know their favorite players on this year's team," Sandt said of the team's camp program. "The players look forward to it just as much as the kids, and it's been exciting to see how popular these camps have become over the last few years."
The baseball camps are open to kids age 7-13 and cost $150 per camp. Each participant receives professional, on-field training from the Beavers, an official adidas camp T-shirt and tickets to a 2007 Beavers game (2 tickets for three-day camps, 4 tickets for the lone two-day camp). Beginning in April, the Beavers are teaming with Franz Family Bakeries to offer a special discounted registration offer with the purchase of select Franz bread products at Portland-area retailers, including area Fred Meyer locations.
For more information on this year's camp program, log on at www.portlandbeavers.com, or contact camp coordinator Marc Kostic at (503) 553-5415 to sign up today.
The expanded camp schedule includes an Earlybird Camp, which offers kids the chance to get a jump on the upcoming baseball season before school is out with a special two-day weekend camp, May 19-20. Both days of the Earlybird camp session begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. The Beavers then will offer a series of three-day camps, June 15-17, July 6-8, Aug. 3-5 and Aug. 17-19. All three-day sessions begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 12 noon.
Camp participants will be separated according to age and skill level.
