Beato Solid Again in 4-2 Win
May 27, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release
It took 19 at-bats, but the Keys finally got a hit with a runner in scoring position. After going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position in a 1-0 loss Tuesday night, the Keys broke through to reward RHP Pedro Beato with a deserving win. Frederick (23-23) won to even the series and its record at .500 with a 4-2 win on Wednesday afternoon.
Pitching in front of his family down from New York, Beato (3-3) faced the minimum through three innings and left after 6 and a 1/3 innings with a three-run lead. The lone runner he left aboard came around to score.
Frederick's offensive clout came via the triple. The Keys, who had not tripled more than once in a game this year, tripled three times.
The second of which helped them break on top as SS Pedro Florimon's leadoff triple in the sixth inning set up the Keys first run.
Leading 2-0 in the seventh inning, CF Matt Angle tripled home C Billy Killian for a 3-0 Keys lead. The triple was the second of the day for Angle who went 3-for-5 with the RBI.
Keys closer Luis Lebron came in to work the ninth inning with the Keys atop 4-2 and proceeded to strike out the side in order. Lebron became the fourth Carolina League pitcher to register his ninth save of the season.
The Keys look to take the series with the rubber match Thursday evening at 6:35 p.m. LHP Zach Britton will be on the hill for Frederick. Coverage will begin with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show from Frawley Stadium at 6:15 p.m.
Frederick will return home for a seven-game homestand Monday June 1st at 7:00 p.m. against Lynchburg. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
