Brampton Beast News Release

The Brampton Beast announced today the signing of defenseman Andrew Darrigo for the 2014-2015 season.

Head Coach Mark DeSantis and Assistant Coach Brent Hughes made the decision to sign Darrigo for a second season in Brampton shortly following his first. "We know that Andrew is a fearless competitor and we feel he is a part of the core of what the Beast symbolize," explained DeSantis. DeSantis expects Darrigo to come to camp confident, in great shape and with the high level of competitiveness he demonstrated last season.

During the Beast's inaugural year, Darrigo instantly became a fan favourite after fighting many of the Central Hockey League's heavy weights (120 PIM). "I really enjoyed my time with the Beast last year," said Darrigo. "It's a great organization with solid community and fan support. I learned a lot last season from the coaching staff and my teammates. My whole experience solidified my decision to return to the Beast this upcoming season."

When asked about the team's performance last year, Darrigo replied, "The team performed well last season. Although, I will never be truly satisfied until we win a championship". Like every off-season for Darrigo, he plans to train hard both on and off the ice, improving his skills to be the best player he can be for the upcoming season.

Prior to Darrigo's career with the Beast, he played in the Maritime Hockey League with the Weeks Crushers. The Oakville native is the second player signing announced by the Beast this off-season, joining forward and Central Hockey League Man of the Year, Cal Wild.

Fans are welcome to meet Darrigo at Beast corporate partner, Kelsey's (70 Quarry Edge Drive) on Friday, June 20th at 7PM-8PM. Fans that attend receive 10% off their meals. The Beast begin their second season this October. Season Tickets for the next season are on sale at www wpMcX69AlUvbYqmm3IuCL0LJQ].bramptonbeast.com or call 905-564-1684.
