Beast Fall to Cyclones on New Years Eve
January 3, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Brampton Beast News Release
CINCINNATI, OHIO - Forward Nathan Todd scored the only goal for Brampton as the Beast were narrowly defeated 2-1 on New Years Eve.
The first period saw the Cyclones jump out to an early 1-0 lead on the back of the goal by Justin Danforth at the 18:21 mark. It was his 18th of the year. That goal would be all the scoring either team would see in the first period.
Cincinnati came out in the second and added to their lead with a goal from Brandon McNally at 11:13.
Brampton needed to find their legs and did so when Nathan Todd was able to put one past Cyclones netminder Jason Kasdorf.
The only assist went to steady defenseman Paul Cianfrini. The goal cut the deficit to one at 11:57.
That would be all the scoring in the game as the Cyclones locked it down and prevented the tying marker from being sent past Kasdorf. Brampton mounted a furious attempt at a tie, but fell just short.
Beast goalie Zach Fucale made 26 saves in the losing effort.
Notes: Molson Three Stars 3) Danforth (CIN) 2) McNally (CIN) 1) Kasdorf (CIN). Brampton was a perfect on the penalty kill and failed to convert on a single power play attempt. The Beast will continue their road trip and will face the Royals in Reading on Friday, January 5th . Puck drop is slatted for 7:00 PM.
