
Bears Sign Goaltender Drew MacIntyre to PTO

HERSHEY, Pa. - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that the club has signed goaltender Drew MacIntyre to a professional tryout contract. The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
MacIntyre, 29, comes to Chocolatetown after signing with the BEARS' ECHL affiliate Reading Royals on January 3. He has seen action in three games with the Royals, and has put up a record of 2-1-0, a goals-against average of 1.76 and save percentage of .942. He began this season in the KHL playing for Prague Lev, where he appeared in two games.
The 6-1, 184-pound native of Charlottetown, PEI has played in a total of 284 AHL games with Grand Rapids, Manitoba, Milwaukee, Chicago, Hamilton and Rochester. MacIntyre's AHL career numbers include a record of 150-97-15 with 15 shutouts. He represented Manitoba at the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic in Binghamton.
MacIntyre also has four games of NHL experience, appearing in two games each with the Vancouver Canucks (2007-08) and Buffalo Sabres (2011-12).
MacIntyre broke into the professional ranks in 2003-04, joining the ECHL's Toledo Storm and racking up 30 wins in 46 appearances over three years. Prior to turning pro, MacIntyre played four years of junior hockey with the Sherbrooke Castors (QMJHL).
The BEARS take to the road to battle the Worcester Sharks on Wednesday, January 16 at 7:00 PM. The team returns home to take on the Lake Erie Monsters at 7:00 PM on Friday, January 18. The showcase event of the BEARS' 75th season will follow on Sunday, January 20 at 5:00 PM, as the team hosts the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the Capital BlueCross AHL Outdoor Classic at HERSHEYPARK Stadium.
