Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club hit the road this week in search of a date in the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals after back-to-back home wins to start the 2009 East Division Finals. Games 3, 4 and 5 of the series are scheduled for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week at Wachovia Arena, with the BEARS leading the series two games to none.

Tickets for HERSHEY'S next home playoff game are on sale now at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.

Six reasons to celebrate: The BEARS are a perfect 6-0 this postseason after a Game 2 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Sunday at GIANT Center. The playoff winning streak is HERSHEY'S longest since winning ten straight Calder Cup playoff games to open the 2006 postseason. The BEARS swept Norfolk and Wilkes- Barre/Scranton in 2006, and also won the first two games of the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals before succumbing to the Portland Pirates in Game 3 of the series. Shane O'Brien scored in double overtime for the Pirates to break HERSHEY'S winning streak that year.

Of Penguins and playoffs: In Calder Cup playoff history between HERSHEY and Wilkes- Barre/Scranton, no series between the two clubs has ever lasted longer than five games. The Penguins swept the 2001 Western Conference Finals four games to none over HERSHEY, with the BEARS sweeping the Pens in the 2006 East Division Finals by that same count. The Chocolate and White won in five games in 2007 in the East Division Finals, and Wilkes- Barre/Scranton also won in five in last season's East Division Semi-Final.

Elsewhere in the Conference: The Providence Bruins lead the Worcester Sharks one game to none in the 2009 Atlantic Division Finals. The teams return to action Wednesday night for Game 2 at the DCU Center in Worcester. The winner between the Sharks and Bruins will face either HERSHEY or Wilkes- Barre/Scranton in the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals. The BEARS have never faced Worcester or Providence in Calder Cup playoff action.

Washington update: The Capitals host the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 2 of an Eastern Conference Semi-Final at Verizon Center Monday night. Washington leads the series one game to none after a 3-2 win Saturday afternoon in D.C.
