Port Huron Flags News Release

Jason Firth, retired before training camp in October, leaving the Beacons with three veteran spots filled of the available seven. Firth retired to stay home and work for “Saskatchewan Wheat Pool,” a Grain Elevator business in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The return means almost instant offense whether it's scoring goals or setting up teammates for goals. Over the past two seasons he spent in Port Huron he amassed 98 and 90 points respectively.

During his last season with the Beacons, Firth passed former UHL great Paul Polillo (1,044 pts.) for first place on the UHL’s career points scored list with 1,045. Firth added 30 more and finished the season with 1,074 career points.

Come see Firth this weekend make his return to the lineup as the Beacons play three games. The Beacons face Elmira on Friday December 10th, Quad City on Saturday and Sunday, the 11th and 12th. Making a special appearance on Saturday is the legend “Goldie Goldthorpe.” The character “Ogie Oglethorpe” from the classic movie “Slapshot” was based on Goldthorpe for all of his on ice antics and numerous penalty minute records. On Sunday the 12th come join the Beacons after the game for an on ice mingle. The “Meijer Mingles” follow every Sunday home game throughout the season.

Good seats are still available for all three games. Contact the Beacons at 810-989-9701, or stop by the McMorran Box Office to get your tickets now!
