Port Huron Flags News Release
PORT HURON, MI- The Port Huron Beacons of the United Hockey League (UHL) are proud to announce that all former Flag players still living in the area will receive complimentary season tickets for the 2004-05 season.
The Port Huron Flags played in the IHL from 1962-1981. During those 19 years many players have come and gone. The ones that came and stayed even after the Flags folded after the 1981 season are the ones that created the love for hockey in the area and truly care about hockey in Port Huron.
Names like Bill Watt, Len Fontaine and Bill LeCaine are the ones that paved the way for hockey and entertainment in Port Huron. Three of the many great Flag players have their jerseys retired at McMorran Arena. The number 8 jersey of Bill Watt, the number 11 of Bill LeCaine and number 12 of Mike McDougal. These great players will forever be associated with Port Huron and their jerseys will reside in the rafters never to be worn again.
So in honor of the Flags the Port Huron Beacons are honoring each former Flag player in the area with season tickets for the 2004-05 season. The same will apply to former Border Cat players residing in the area as well.
Each individual player that still resides in the Port Huron Area is asked to contact the Beacons office at 810-989-9701. In the mean time we will be attempting to contact as many former Flags and Border Cats as possible.
