Beach Bums sign first new player of season

TRAVERSE CITY, MI, January 27, 2007: The Beach Bums are pleased to announce the signing of David Beigh (pronounced BEAK). A 6'5" right hander, Beigh was a 2nd round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2000. He got better as he climbed the organizational ladder putting together his best season at his highest stop, Class-A Hickory of the South Atlantic League. With the Crawdads, Beigh recorded an ERA of 3.38 in 14 games, notching two saves.
Beigh also comes from a fantastic pedigree. He attended Harrison High School in West Lafayette, IN. Harrison HS has produced several Major League players including Todd Dunwoody and Erik Sabel who played for a pair or World Series winning teams, the 1997 Florida Marlins and 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks respectively.
The Beach Bums open their season on May 23rd at Kalamazoo before playing their home opener on May 25th against the Kings on the first Fireworks Friday of the season. The team's gift shop is currently open for business from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to help get Traverse City fans through the winter months.
