TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums(23-30) dropped the finale of this weekend's series against the Schaumburg Boomers(36-17), by a final score of 5-0.
After a scoreless first, Schaumburg got on the board on a two-run single by Kyle Ruchim. In the sixth, Josh Gardiner and Tanner Rahier hit back-to-back RBI doubles, doubling the Boomers lead to 4-0. Rahier got another RBI hit in the eighth, this time a single, to finish the scoring on the night.
Brandon Quintero picked up his first Frontier League win, going five innings allowing five hits and a walk while striking out three. John Havird made it through six innings for the Beach Bums. He gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks to fall to 4-3 on the year.
On Tuesday night, the Beach Bums continue their six-game home stand with the opener of a three game set against the Normal Cornbelters. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and the voice of the Beach Bums, Tom Willms, goes on the air at 6:45pm with the Budweiser pre-game show, on 101.9- The Bay.
Tuesday night is Silver Slugger Tuesday and Thrifty Tuesday! Chairback tickets for fans 60 and over are only 5 dollars. Plus, all fans can take advantage of the Thrifty Tuesday meal deal! Buy a hot dog or brat, chips, and a Northwoods soda, for only five dollars. The gates open at 6pm for a 7:05 first pitch against the Normal Cornbelters.
