Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.-- The Traverse City Beach Bums have announced the addition of RHP Ben Dollar, formerly of the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.

Dollar, 23, is a 6'4" 215-pound right-hander from Spartanburg, South Carolina, and played with college baseball at Presbyterian. Dollar signed as an undrafted free agent with the Diamondbacks in 2008 and played for two seasons with the short season-A affiliate Yakima Bears of the Northwest League. In two seasons of professional baseball, Dollar is 1-4 with a 5.21 ERA in 46.2 innings with 18 walks and 27 strikeouts.

"While Dollar doesn't have a stat line that jumps out at you, he has a lot of great recommendations and can really throw the baseball," said Beach Bums Director of Baseball Operations' Jason Wuerfel. "He throws consistently from 90-92mph on a hard downward plane at 6'4" with good command of the strike zone. He should have one of the best fastballs on our staff and we expect him to have a lot of success at the Frontier League level."

The Traverse City Beach Bums are entering their fifth season of play in 2010 with the home opener scheduled for Friday, May 28th versus the Oakland County Cruisers. The Beach Bums will play 54 of their 96 games at home in 2010. Season tickets are now on sale -- please phone 231-943-0100.
