
Beach Bums Get RHP Moore From Joliet

Traverse City MI --- The Traverse City Beach Bums have announced a trade with the Joliet Jackhammers of the Northern League to bring RHP Michael Moore to northern Michigan for the 2010 season.In return, Joliet will receive infielder Brandon McArthur.
Moore, a 6'2" 195-lb native of Lexington, South Carolina, was named a Pre-Season All-American at Erskine College in 2009 after going 10-3 with a 3.39 ERA as a junior.Moore finished out his college career with an 8-2 record as a senior with 71 strikeouts in 76.1 innings. For his career, Moore tallied a 32-9 record in 58 appearances, 51 of them being starts, 8 complete games, 278 innings pitched, 234 strikeouts, and a earned run average of 4.11.
Moore was originally signed by the Fargo-Morehead Redhawks before being dealt to the Joliet Jackhammers in the middle of last season.
"Michael is a pitcher that comes highly recommended by everyone who has seen him throw," said Beach Bums Director of Baseball Operations Jason Wuerfel."He was a tremendous starting pitcher in college and we are going to give him a look as a starter in Traverse City next summer, too."
The Beach Bums sent infielder Brandon McArthur to Joliet to complete the deal.The Beach Bums signed McArthur out of the University of Florida last summer.In 26 games with the Beach Bums, McArthur hit with 2 home runs and 8 RBI.
The Beach Bums are members of the 12 member Frontier League and will be playing 51 home games in the 2010 season. The home opener is Friday, May 28, 2010.
