
Beach Bums Drop Close Game at Lake Erie

Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
AVON, OH - The Traverse City Beach Bums(16-20) fell in a back-and-forth game against the Lake Erie Crushers(15-22) by a final score of 4-3.
Ryan Garvey got things rolling in the third inning when he led off with a walk. Arby Fields followed with a well-executed bunt single, moving Garvey to second. After Jeff DeBlieux moved the runners up with a sacrifice bunt, Steven Patterson rolled in the game's first run with a grounder to short. In the bottom of the inning, Tanner Lubach hit a solo homer to tie the game. After a couple of singles and a walk, loading the bases, Brandon Murray was hit by a pitch to give Lake Erie the lead.
With one out in the fifth, Ryan Garvey hit a fly ball, deep down the left field line, for his first homer of the season, tying the game at 2. Once again, Lake Erie responded in the bottom of the frame. After Jordan Dean reached on an error then Sean Hurley hit a two-run homer to make it 4-2. The Beach Bums got one back in the eighth after DeBlieux walked, Patterson singled, and Will Kengor hit a sacrifice fly, driving in DeBlieux.
Jordan Kurokawa went seven innings for the Crushers, allowing two runs on five hits, improving to 3-1 with tonight's win. John Havird falls to 3-2, giving up three earned runs on seven hits in four and 1/3 innings. Chandler Jagodzinski earned his tenth save, striking out two in the final inning.
Tomorrow night, the Beach Bums and the Lake Erie Crushers get together for game two of this weekend's three game series. Kramer Champlin will take the hill for the Beach Bums and Juan Caballero goes for Lake Erie. First pitch is at 6:05pm and the voice of the Beach Bums, Tom Willms, goes on the air at 5:45pm with the Budweiser pre-game show, on 101.9- The Bay.
On Friday, June 30th, the Traverse City Beach Bums will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Frontier League. We invite out to come out and cheer the Beach Bums to victory then stick around for a FANtastic Fireworks display. Gates open at 6pm and first pitch against the Windy City Thunderbolt is at 7:05pm.
