
Beach Bums Blitzed in Washington

Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
WASHINGTON, PA - It was a night where it seemed nothing would go their way as the Traverse City Beach Bums(9-14) dropped a 23-1 decision to the Washington Wild Things(15-9).
In the first, Washington took a 1-0 lead on a Kyle Pollock RBI single. In the third, Max Dutto led off with a walk, then moved to second as Arby Fields bunted him over. Two batters later, Will Kengor reached on an error, scoring Fields, tying the game at one. Washington regained the lead when Mike Hill hit an RBI double to score Reydel Medina.
From there, things fell apart for the Beach Bums. In the fifth, 14 Washington player came to the plate, as they scored nine runs on seven hits and four walks, to take an 11-1 lead. In the sixth, 11 men batted for the Wild Things. They picked up six more runs highlighted by James Harris' grand slam. In the seventh, Louis Mele rocked a grand slam as part as another six run frame.
Danny Garmendia got the win for Washington, going seven innings and allowing no earned run on four hits, to improve to 2-2. Justin Finan suffered the loss with a five inning effort, giving up four runs on five hits. He falls to 0-1. With tonight's loss, the Beach Bums have lost six in a row and their two series.
The Beach Bums return home for their first six game homestand, starting off with a three set against the Windy City Thunderbolts. Will Landsheft starts for Windy City and Jordan Desguin gets the call for the Beach Bums.
