River City Rascals News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums beat the River City Rascals for the first time since 2016 on Thursday night at Wuerfel Park, riding a complete game effort from starting pitcher Jordan Desguin (4-0) to take the 3-1 win, avoiding the series and season sweep at the hands of the Rascals.
Desguin went all nine innings, allowing just one hit and one run, while striking out eight. He allowed just two total baserunners.
With the game scoreless heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Bums got a leadoff homer from Luke Lowery, and then after three walks, a two-run ground rule double to right by Orlando Rivera. The Rascals scored their lone run in the seventh, with Stephen Kerr, who reached on a hit-by-pitch, scoring on an RBI fielder's choice from Mike Jurgella.
Rascals starter Lucas Laster (1-2) took the loss, allowing three runs in 5.1 innings, walking four and striking out three. JD Hearn recorded the only hit for the Rascals, on a fourth inning single.
The Rascals (17-12) will head to Avon, OH for a weekend set against the Lake Eries Crushers starting tomorrow night at Sprenger Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET, 6:05 pm CT. Hector Hernandez will make the start for the Rascals on the mound.
