Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, MI April 25, 2007 The Beach Bums are pleased to announce the addition of John Sexton as pitching coach for the 2007 season.
A former college teammate of current Beach Bums Field Manager Jon Cahill, Sexton pitched at the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he helped the River Hawks to four consecutive Northeast-10 Conference championships and a 2001 appearance in the NCAA Division II College World Series in Montgomery, Alabama. After college, Sexton took a job coaching football and baseball at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where he has spent the past six years.
"John Sexton is a baseball guy," Beach Bums skipper Jon Cahill said of his new pitching coach. "He loves the game, hates to lose, and thrives on getting the best out of himself and his players. John will get into the heads of his pitchers and learn their tendencies, strengths, and weaknesses. I feel very comfortable and confident that Johnny can, not just get the job done, but get it done with class and professionalism."
