
BC Lions Acquire RB Tyrell Sutton from Alouettes

(Vancouver) The BC Lions today announced that they have acquired international running back Tyrell Sutton from the Montreal Alouettes as well as Montreal's third-round selection in the 2019 CFL Draft in exchange for the Lions' 2019 second-round selection.
Sutton (5'8", 215) is a six-year CFL veteran and 2015 CFL All-Star, appeared in 69 regular season games for the Als piling-up 643 career carries for 3,573 yards and 15 touchdowns. A pounding runner and gifted receiver, the Ohio native added another 1,507 yards and three majors on 173 receptions.
"We are entering a very critical period in our schedule and we will continue to do everything we can to improve our team," said GM Ed Hervey. "Tyrell is a physical running back who is equally effective in pass protection and we look forward to having him join us for the stretch run."
Beginning his pro career as an undrafted free agent signing of the Green Bay Packers in 2009. He was signed off waivers that same year by the Carolina Panthers following the league's roster cut-down period. He went on to appear in 16 games for Carolina over the 2009 and 2010 seasons seeing action primarily as a kick returner. He made on final NFL stop in Seattle in 2012 before embarking on his CFL career with Montreal in 2013.
