BBVA Compass Stadium to Host U.S. Open of Football Ultimate Final on July 19

HOUSTON - Texas is the spiritual home of football, so what better place to host the championship game of the first-ever U.S. Open of Football than in the Lone Star State? BBVA Compass Stadium will play host to the Ultimate Final of the inaugural U.S. Open of Football on Thursday, July 19 at 8 p.m. CDT, stadium officials announced today.

The U.S. Open of Football is a single-elimination flag football tournament organized by the American Flag Football League (AFFL) spanning the entire country. The 132-team field is comprised of 128 teams of amateurs, broken down into seven regions, and four teams of former professional football players. The 7-on-7 tournament promises high-scoring offensive fireworks with non-stop action. For official tournament rules, click here.

"We are extremely excited to host the inaugural U.S Open of Football Ultimate Final at BBVA Compass Stadium. Our facility is a reflection of our community, and we know what a special place football holds in the hearts of so many Houstonians," said stadium Executive Vice President and General Manager Juan Rodriguez. "With some of the brightest stars in pro sports competing against the best that America has to offer in a fast-paced format, this event will have something for football fans of all ages!"

The 128 amateur teams will compete for the crown of America's Champion, who will square off with the winner of the four-team professional division in the Ultimate Championship. The winner of the Ultimate Final will earn a $1 million grand prize.

The four pro teams are anticipated to be led by stars such as former No. 1 pick Michael Vick, All-Pro wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, former Houston Texans running back Justin Forsett, Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Johnson and former NBA stars Nate Robinson and Carlos Boozer.

Tickets for the Ultimate Final go on sale this Friday, May 18, at 9 a.m. CDT with prices starting at just $10. Tickets may be purchased online at BBVACompassStadium.com, by phone at (888) 929-7849, or in person at the BBVA Compass Stadium Box Office, which is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CDT. Houston Dynamo and Dash season ticket members and partners will the opportunity to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public with an exclusive presale.

Earlier this year, it was announced that NFL Network will televise 11 games in the tournament, including the Ultimate Final, marking the first-ever broadcast deal for professional flag football and building on the outpouring of support from fans since the AFFL's first exhibition game in June 2017.

The final for America's Championship - the amateur bracket - will be played on July 14 at the Bud & Jackie Sellick Bowl on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis.
