Erie, Pennsylvania, Wednesday, January 26, 2011 - The Erie BayHawks have acquired former Hofstra standout Loren Stokes from the NBA Development League's available player pool.

After graduating from Hofstra in 2007, Stokes (6-3, 175 lbs) attended NBA Summer League with the Orlando Magic before playing internationally the last three years, most recently in Belgium.

A native of Buffalo, New York, Stokes starred at Hofstra University where as a senior he averaged 20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, and was named the Colonial Athletic Association player of the year in 2006-07. Stokes is one of only five players in Hofstra history to score at least 2,000 points, as he amassed 2,148 points over his four-year career.

Erie's current active roster stands at nine players as guard Garrett Temple signed a 10-day contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

Stokes will be in uniform when the BayHawks travel to play the Maine Red Claws on Friday at 7 pm ET. Fans can listen to the game live on AM 1330 The Fan, or follow the live online Futurecast broadcast at nba.com/dleague.
