PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, allowed just two hits in a 3-0 shutout victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Saturday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
Jesus Castillo (2-4) pitched six scoreless innings and gave up just a pair of singles. Despite walking four batters, he struck out five and recorded his second win. Castillo has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last five outings.
Brendon Sanger and Jhoan Urena hit back-to-back doubles off Adam Bray (2-2) to begin the top of the second to give Mobile (18-24) an early 1-0 lead. Sanger and Urena extended their on-base streaks to 13 and 16 games, respectively.
Jorge Alcala pitched four scoreless innings for Pensacola (26-17) before allowing a pair of runs in the sixth on a wild pitch and a Brandon Sandoval RBI single.
With wins in each of the first three games, the BayBears are the first team to hand the Blue Wahoos a series loss. Pensacola had won eight consecutive series to open the season.
