BayBears Tie Game in Ninth Inning, Walk off in 10th

MOBILE, Ala. - After being held scoreless for the first eight innings, the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, tied the game in the ninth and collected a third straight win over the Biloxi Shuckers 2-1 in 10 innings Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

After a one-out walk and a Riley Unroe single in the ninth inning, Brendon Sanger drove in Connor Justus with a base hit to right-center field to tie the game 1-1. For the second time in the series, Matt Thaiss brought home the game-winning run in the 10th. His single down the right field line off Brad Kuntz (0-2) plated Brennon Lund.

BayBears (7-6) starter Jesus Castillo only allowed one run on two hits in 4 2/3 innings. Matt Custred, Vicente Campos, and Jeremy Rhoades (1-0) combined for 5 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Kodi Medeiros gave up just one hit in five scoreless innings coming out of the bullpen for Biloxi (9-5). Adrian Houser pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in his second start with the Shuckers.

The BayBears wrap up the five-game home series against Biloxi Friday at 7:05 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Luis Pena (0-1, 4.32 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Thomas Jankins (2-0, 2.08 ERA) for the Shuckers.
