BayBears Roll Through Suns on Wednesday

Mobile, Ala. - Barry Enright dealt seven strong innings while his offense provided plenty of support leading the Mobile BayBears (62-68, 25-35) to a 12-2 victory over the Jacksonville Su ns (75-55, 40-20) in front of 2,029 Wednesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Enright (10-8) allowed only a solo homerun with five other hits, one walk and nine strikeouts for the victory. Suns starter Jarrett Santos (4-3) fell in the loss, giving up five runs, four earned, with eleven hits over five and one-thirds innings.

The teams went back-and-forth early as Mobile opened the scoring in the first inning with an unearned run against Santos, a Mark Hallberg groundout that scored Evan Frey for a 1-0 lead. Jacksonville tied the game in the second inning as Mike Stanton connected on a solo homerun, his 14th in Double-A and 26th overall, for a 1-1 score.

Mobile=2 0took the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning, scoring three times. Orlando Mercado doubled to drive home Bryan Byrne for a 2-1 score. Later Evan Frey doubled home two more runs for the 4-1 lead.

After adding a sixth inning run on a Mark Hallberg single, Mobile put the game away with a seven-run seventh inning. Pete Clifford, Cyle Hankerd and Ricardo Sosa each recorded two-run doubles while an Evan Frey single drove in another run for a 12-1 BayBears lead.

Jacksonville ended the scoring in the ninth inning on a Chris Hatcher sacrifice fly for a 12-2 final.

The Suns return to action Friday at 7:05 p.m. at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
