Mobile BayBears News Release

Mobile, Ala. – The Mobile BayBears lost their second straight to West Tenn, and fourth straight overall, on Wednesday afternoon, 12-6. The Diamond Jaxx collected 16 hits and were issued 11 walks as they batted around in two different innings for the second game in a row.

After their half of the fifth inning West Tenn held a 9-1 lead as they scored five runs in the fifth, sending 11 men to the plate.

The BayBears tried to chip away at the big lead, and got themselves back in the game after eight. Mobile scored three runs in the sixth inning as Khalil Greene doubled and was brought home on a double by Rico Washington. Rich Gomez would then drive in Washington with his third homerun of the season. Washington added two more runs in the eighth with his fourth homer of the year, bringing in Jon Knott. Washington now has three homeruns in his last three games. The BayBears have hit five in the last two games, both loses, however.

BayBears starter, Brad Baker (0-3) took the loss. Baker threw three innings allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out five. The problem came, however, as he also walked five Diamond Jaxx hitters.

Game three of the series is Thursday night at 7:05 at Hank Aaron Stadium. LHP Cry Stewart (3-2; 3.77) will start for Mobile against West Tenn's RHP Angel Guzman (0-1; 3.27).
