July 3, 2018 - Southern League (SL1)
Mobile BayBears News Release
BILOXI, Miss. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were edged 3-2 by the Biloxi Shuckers in the completion of Sunday's suspended game and were shut out 2-0 in the originally scheduled game Tuesday night at MGM Park.
SUNDAY'S GAME:
The BayBears put up two runs in the third inning, but Sean Isaac gave up a two-run homer to Corey Ray before Sunday's game was suspended due to rain. It resumed with two outs in the fifth inning Tuesday.
After Ralston Cash got the first four outs, Adrian Almeida (2-3) allowed Troy Stokes Jr. to score the go-ahead run on a Blake Allemand sacrifice fly.
Mobile was held scoreless and mustered just one hit against Zack Brown (7-0), who earned the win with four innings of relief.
TUESDAY'S GAME:
The offensive woes continued for the BayBears (43-36 overall, 6-5 second half) in Tuesday's originally scheduled game, a seven-inning contest. Despite outhitting Biloxi (47-34, 6-5) 6-4, Mobile went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
Trailing 2-0 in the sixth inning, the BayBears loaded the bases against Jon Olczak (5-2). However, Nate Griep came out of the bullpen and struck out Roberto Baldoquin to retire the side. Griep earned his 23rd save, the most in all of Minor League Baseball.
Dylan Unsworth (0-3) gave up a pair of runs on a Stokes double in the third and an Allmand home run in the fourth. He only allowed four hits but took the loss in a five-inning start.
The BayBears were shut out for the final 13 innings of the series, after plating 28 runs in the first 30 innings of the five-game set.
The BayBears begin a four-game home series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp Wednesday, July 4, at 6:35 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Alex Klonowski (4-1, 4.43 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Max Duval (2-7, 7.11 ERA) for the Jumbo Shrimp. Live coverage can be seen on MiLB.tv (subscription required, promo code: BAYBEARS) and heard on the BayBears Broadcast Network, the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App, with the Countdown to First Pitch starting at 6:15 p.m. CDT.
