MOBILE, AL - The Birmingham Barons picked up their eighth win against the BayBears this year in ten tries, winning 9-2 Tuesday at Hank Aaron Stadium. The game ended a ten game homestand for the BayBears, with Mobile finishing with a 4-6 record. Barons pitcher Gio Gonzalez (8-5) was the winning pitcher for Birmingham, allowing just one run in six innings, while striking out 11 batters. BayBears pitcher Brooks Brown (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing eight earned runs in 3.1 innings.

The BayBears have now lost two straight, and fall to fourth place, ten games behind first place Jacksonville in the Southern League South. The BayBears scored the first run of the game, on a Carlos Gonzalez RBI groundout to second base. An Emilio Bonifacio RBI single in the seventh gave the BayBears their second run in the loss.

Osbek Castillo threw 2.2 scoreless innings in his first appearance of the series, and Matt Elliott allowed one run in three full innings of relief for Mobile. Every Birmingham Baron reached base in the game, and right fielder David Cook went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI's.

The BayBears next play at home on Monday, August 20th against the Tennessee Smokies. Wednesday the BayBears play in Mississippi at 7:05 PM, with BayBears RHP Chris Kinsey (4-5) starting for the BayBears against the Braves Double-A affiliate.
