Battle looms as Blues tangle with Tornado
September 16, 2004 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
The Jr. Blues will open the 2004-05 NAHL season with a pair of home games against the Texas Tornado, Friday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, September 18, at 7 p.m.
"These should be great games between two of the premier Junior A hockey teams in the country," said Jr. Blues coach Nick Pollos. "I know that these games are being anticipated across the league."
These teams -- who faced each other in the Jr. A National Championship tournament last season, with the Tornado winning 1-0 in one of the best junior hockey games many hockey insiders have been in recent years -- will meet seven times this season.
Friday's game is Springfield King Youth Hockey Night and the Jr. Blues will be handing out their popular magnetic schedule to the first 1000 people through the doors. The magnetic schedule will help keep track of the Jr. Blues throughout the season.
On Saturday, the Jr. Blues will hand out free "Miracle" T-shirts to the first 500 people through the doors, compliments of Family Video.
