September 16, 2004 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Soo Indians News Release

The Soo Kewadin Indians and radio station WKNW, "Talk Radio 1400," inked an agreement that will see 40 Indians hockey games broadcast in the Sault Ste. Marie market, and on the internet, for the 2004-05 North American Hockey League season.

This will be the 10th season for the Kewadin Jr. Indians and the 10th year that they have been affiliated with Talk Radio 1400.

Operations manager and morning show host John Bell will again provide his unique style of play-by-play for most games. By the end of this season, Bell will have broadcast 500 North American Hockey League games, which included the play-by-play of all the 2003 USA National Jr. 'A' Tournament games in the Sault.

Indians coach and general manager Joe Shawhan says he's " thrilled to have his team's games on the radio."

He added, "WKNW has been an important part of the exposure and growth of the Kewadin Casino Jr. Indians."

For his part, Bell says traveling with and broadcasting the Indians for 10 years have provided some of the more memorable times in his life, and the quality of play in the North American Hockey League makes doing the play-by-play easy and fun.

" I hope to do another 10 years," says the news and sports director at the station that serves the hockey rabid cities of both Sault, Michigan and Sault, Ontario.

The games can be heard at on the internet at www.30below.com. Just look for the Talk Radio 1400 link on the Iceberg Computers web page.
