Charleston Battery News Release

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery is teaming up with the Berkeley County YMCA and will offer a free soccer clinic for the YMCA children before this Saturday's match versus the Wilmington Hammerheads. This is the eighth year that the Battery has provided the soccer clinic.

Sports Director YMCA of Greater Charleston Fred Brown, "It's been a blessing that the Berkeley County children have been able to do this with our local pro team. The Battery players are prepared to give their time before a match to provide the clinic for our children which is very generous. It helps build the excitement for the sport and for the game for both the kids and their families and I know they all appreciate it."

Led by Charleston Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser and members of the Charleston Battery team Berkeley County YMCA children will receive soccer instruction including drills and small games on the stadium pitch and on the back practice field located within Blackbaud Stadium; close to 300 children have registered for the free event.

The Charleston Battery take on the Wilmington Hammerheads this Saturday, May 10 at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island; gates open at 6 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM. Saturday's game is the Battery's annual Kick for a Cure celebration; the players will be wearing special Pink Nike jerseys that will be auctioned after the match with the proceeds benefiting the Lowcountry chapter of Susan G.
