2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY

FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 26-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 12-17-2 when the opposing team scores first.

AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 28-1-1 when leading after two periods, 2-16-0 when trailing after the second, and 8-0-2 when tied at the end of the second.

ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 8-5-3 in games decided by one goal.

TROOPS 2ND IN OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 2nd in OHL scoring with an average of 4.17 goals per game (242 in 58 games), trailing the Windsor Spitfires at 4.76 (276 in 58 games).

BATTALION 2ND IN DEFENCE: The Battalion is has the 2nd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing 170 goals in 58 games for an average of 2.93, trailing the Ottawa 67's (146 against in 58 games for 2.52).

POWER PLAY: The Battalion is 7th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 22.3. The Troops have scored 48 goals on 215 opportunities.

PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 86.2 percent. The Troops have allowed 34 power-play goals during 247 times shorthanded.

PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 3rd-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 12.4 minutes per game.

EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 194 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 136 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

SHORTHANDED GOALS: The Battalion is tied with Flint, Mississauga and Ottawa for the league-lead with 13 shorthanded goals, including four by Nikita Tarasevich ... The Battalion is three points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion lost 6-3 to the visiting Hamilton Bulldogs in its 59th game last season.

TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:

MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 26 goals and 56 assists for 82 points in 57 games and is 4th in the OHL scoring race. He's 3rd in assists (56), tied 4th in power-play assists (23) and tied 8th in plus-minus (+27).

KYLE JACKSON: Overage centre Jackson has 29 goals and 45 assists for 74 points in 58 games and is tied for 11th in the OHL scoring race.

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 21 goals and 45 assists for 66 points in 58 games and is second in points (66), tied second in assists (45) and is 3rd in goals (21) by defencemen. He is 2nd among all players with 264 shots on goal and tied 10th in assists (45).

JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 26 goals and 33 assists for 59 points in 60 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit and is tied with teammate Nikita Tarasevich and three others OHL lead with four shorthanded goals.

PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 18 assists for 20 points in 58 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+45).

NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points, all career highs, in 55 games. He is tied with teammate Josh Bloom and three others for the OHL lead with four shorthanded goals.

DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 31-9-2 with a 2.51 goals-against average and .911 save percentage. He leads all netminders in wins (31) and average (2.51) and is 2nd in save percentage (.911).
