2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY

FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 22-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 10-11-1 when the opposing team scores first.

AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 24-1-1 when leading after two periods, 1-10-0 when trailing after the second, and 7-0-1 when tied at the end of the second.

ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 8-5-2 in games decided by one goal.

OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 2nd in OHL scoring with an average of 4.38 goals per game (197 in 45 games), trailing the Windsor Spitfires at 4.57 (201 in 44 games).

DEFENCE: The Battalion has the 2nd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing an average of 2.87 goals per game (129 against in 45 games). The Ottawa 67's lead with an average of 2.50 (110 against in 44 games).

POWER PLAY: The Battalion is 8th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 22.2. The Troops have scored 37 goals on 167 opportunities.

PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 86.2 percent. The Troops have allowed 25 power-play goals during 181 times shorthanded.

PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 12th-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 11.4 minutes per game.

EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 160 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 104 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

The Battalion is 12 points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion won 4-2 at Mississauga in its 46th game last season.

TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:

MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 20 goals and 45 assists for 65 points in 44 games and is 2nd in the OHL scoring race. He's 2nd in assists (45), tied 3rd in power-play assists (19) and tied 5th in plus-minus (+25).

KYLE JACKSON: Overage centre Jackson has 27 goals and 37 assists for 64 points in 45 games and is tied for 3rd in the OHL scoring race. He is tied for 5th in game-winning goals (5), is 8th in assists (37), tied 8th in power-play goals (8) and tied 10th in goals (27).

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 16 goals and 40 assists for 56 points in 44 games and is 2nd in goals (16), assists (40) and points (56) by OHL rearguards and tied for 12th in the OHL scoring race. He leads all players with 221 shots on goal, is 5th in assists (40), tied 8th in power-play goals (8) and tied 10th in power-play assists (13).

JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points in 47 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit, tying him for 17th in the OHL scoring race. He leads the league with four shorthanded goals.

DALYN WAKELY: Centre Wakely has 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points in 45 games. He is tied for 11th in the OHL with four game-winning goals.

KYLE McDONALD: Overage right winger McDonald has 21 goals and nine assists for 30 points in 22 games and is tied for 5th in game-winning goals (5).

PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 16 assists for 18 points in 45 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+39).

NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points, all career highs, in 44 games. He is tied for 2nd in the OHL lead with three shorthanded goals.

DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 25-6-1 with a 2.51 goals-against average and .911 save percentage. He leads all netminders in wins (25), and is 2nd in average (2.51) and save percentage (.911).
