Bats Take Series Opening Win, 5-2.

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Bats took the win in game one of three against the Gwinnett Braves, as part of a six game home stand at Louisville Slugger Field, 5-2.

The Bats started right-handed pitcher Austin Ross (1-0, 2.25). Ross went eight innings, allowing seven hits, and holding to two runs. He had no walks, one strikeout, and took the win for the night.

On the mound first for the Braves was Lucas Sims (4-3, 3.54). Sims pitched six innings, gave up seven hits, three runs, three walks, and five strikeouts.

The Braves saw the early lead in the top of the first, as a Dustin Peterson line drive single would bring in a plated Johan Camargo, 1-0.

The Bats put two runs up in the bottom of the second, taking the lead, 2-1. Sebastian Elizalde singled, followed by a Dilson Herrera walk would plate them. A wild pitch by Sims would advance Elizalde and Herrera, where an Austin Ross line drive single would bring them both home.

The Bats would hold the lead until the top of the sixth. Braves Carlos Franco single would bring runner Lane Adams home and tie up the score at two-all.

The Bats fought back at the bottom of the sixth after Dilson Herrera hit a ground-rule double and the Bats would lead, 3-2, heading into the stretch.

The Bats would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Stuart Turner would single on a line drive and score runner Hernan Iribarren, followed by an Elizalde double, which would score runner Phillip Ervin, 5-2.

The Bats would hold the Braves to the final score of 5-2, and take the series-opening win. The Bats will take on the Braves again Wednesday night at 6:35 P.M.
