The Crosscutters offense was held quiet again in an 8-1 loss to the Tri-City ValleyCats Thursday night.

Luis Gonzalez was solid in 4.2 innings of work. He allowed just two runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out three.

But the bats were quiet, and when they came alive, they died at the wrong times. Down 4-0 in the seventh, the Cutters had the bases loaded with one out, but Larry Greene grounded into a double play to retire the side.

Jon Musser and Matt Sisto struggled late as the Tri-City gap widened to 8-0 by the end of the night.

Greene would come back with an RBI in the ninth, but at that point, it was too late.

Jobduan Morales got things started in the fourth. A line-drive single up the middle plated Jesse Wierzbicki to give Williamsport a 1-0 lead. Catfish Elkins then made it 2-0 on a single to left in the fifth.

Musser allowed an RBI-single to Dan Gulbransen in the seventh before a Morales groundout made it 4-0.

A bases-clearing double to Gulbransen in the eighth later, and it was out of reach. The Crosscutters have now lost eleven of 14 and sit in last place in the division.

The Crosscutters take on Tri-City again Friday at Bowman Field. First pitch is at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
