Columbus, OH - Brad Halsey was on his game tonight as he tossed eight solid innings and Andy Phillips drove in four runs to power the Columbus Clippers over the Louisville Bats 9-2 in International League action Tuesday.
Halsey (10-4) gave up two runs, one earned, on six hits in his eight innings of work to pick up the win. He struck out nine without issuing a walk. Phillips stroked a three-run homer in the first inning as the Clippers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. Phillips went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run scored.
Damian Moss (0-2) was rocked for eight runs, seven earned, in just 4 2/3rd innings of work to take the loss for Louisville. Moss allowed seven hits, walked seven batters, and fanned three in the loss.
Bubba Crosby doubled twice, knocked in two runs, and scored two more for Columbus. He went 3-for-5 on the day. Shane Spencer doubled and scored twice in the win.
Brandon Larson smacked a two-run single in the ninth inning to account for both of the Bats' runs. With the two RBI, Larson became Louisville's all-time RBI leader.
