(Sugar Land, Texas) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 6-4 on Saturday night in the second game of a six-game series at Constellation Field.

Long Island opened up a 3-0 lead early with single runs in the first three innings off Skeeters starter Dallas Beeler. T.J. Rivera's RBI single to left field, L.J. Mazzilli's solo home run to left and a passed ball that scored Ezequiel Carrera did the damage.

Sugar Land closed to within 3-2 in the third on Zach Borenstein's run-scoring groundout and Jason Martinson's bloop RBI double to center off Ducks starter Darin Downs. Another RBI groundout from Borenstein in the fifth tied the game at three.

The Ducks took the lead back in the seventh when Rey Fuentes lifted a sac fly to left field and Deibinson Romero connected for a two-out RBI single to left. The Skeeters got within a run at 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh on Denis Phipps' two-out RBI single to center. However, they could not pull even, and a throwing error plated Carrera in the ninth to round out the scoring.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Downs pitched five innings of three-run ball, allowing four hits and four walks while striking out six. Beeler also went five innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts. Cody Mincey (4-0) picked up the win in relief, tossing two innings and allowing a run on three hits while striking out two. Daniel Gibson (1-1) took the loss, conceding two runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning. Enrique Burgos earned his 11th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

Fuentes led the Flock with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. D'Arby Myers added two hits as well, while Carrera scored twice and drew two walks.

The Ducks and Skeeters continue their six-game set on Sunday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT (6:05 p.m. CDT) at Constellation Field. Fans can follow all the action on the Long Island Ducks Broadcast Network. Live streaming video and audio will be available via BoxCast on LIDucks.com, Facebook Live and the Ducks official YouTube channel.
